Introduction

The genus Pardaleodes comprises of 6 species, all of which are entirely African in distribution.

Pardaleodes tibullus is found from Sierra Leone to Uganda and western Kenya.

Habitats

This is an uncommon species found mainly along tracks in relatively undisturbed forest.

Lifecycle

The larval foodplants are grasses including Pennisetum ( Poaceae ).

Adult behaviour

Pardaleodes tibullus, like most skippers, is active mainly in the mornings and tends to disappear from view later in the day unless the weather is overcast. Both sexes visit a wide variety of herbaceous plants for nectar, showing a preference for Lamiaceae and Acanthaceae. Males also feed at bird droppings.
