Introduction

The genus Pardaleodes comprises of 6 species, all of which are entirely African in distribution.

Pardaleodes edipus is found from Sierra Leone to Cameroon.

Habitats

This very common and widespread species is found mainly along tracks and roads running through degraded forest. Also in glades, clearings, parks, arboreta and village gardens.

Lifecycle

The larval foodplants are grasses, of which several species are probably used.

Adult behaviour

The butterflies, like most skippers, are active mainly in the mornings, and tend to disappear from view later in the day unless the weather is warm and overcast. Both sexes visit a variety of wild flowers for nectar. Males also feed at bird droppings.
