Introduction
There are 6 species in the genus Bhutanitis, all large and magnificent butterflies with black wings marked with fine creamy or white lines. The hindwings of all species bear prominent red patches, greyish-blue lunules, and a set of 3 or 4 long spatulate tails.
The closest relatives of Bhutanitis are the Parnassius Apollos.
Bhutanitis thaidina is found in Sichuan and Tibet.
Habitats
This is a mid-high altitude species, found in meadows and glades within coniferous forests.
Lifecycle
The larval foodplant is Aristolochia moupinensis.
