Baeotis staudingeri, Satipo, Peru – Adrian Hoskins
Introduction
There are at least 20 species in the genus Baeotis, found variously from Mexico to Bolivia. They are small butterflies, and mostly very similar in appearance, with broad creamy markings, and metallic silvery submarginal lines, on a dark brown or sooty ground colour.Baeotis staudingeri appears to be restricted to Peru.

Habitats
This is a mid-elevation species found in the vicinity of streams, ditches or wet ground, at altitudes between about 300-900m. The butterfly can be found throughout the year.
Lifecycle
The lifecycle and larval foodplants are unknown.

Adult behaviour
In common with other Baeotis species, the adults habitually bask with their wings held flat, and with the forewings angled forward.
