Introduction
The genus Sarangesa comprises of 26 species, of which 3 are found in the Oriental region and the remaining 23 in mainland Africa.
Sarangesa bouvieri is found from Sierra Leone to Zimbabwe and western Kenya.
Habitats
This species is found in degraded forest and along roadsides through forested areas, at altitudes between about 100-500m.
Lifecycle
The larval foodplants are uncertain but probably include Peristrophe or other Acanthaceae.
Adult behaviour
Males are usually seen singly, often sharing their habitat with Sarangesa brigida. Both species commonly bask with wings fully outspread on bushes or low vegetation, and will fly in overcast conditions as well as in full sunshine.
