Introduction

The genus Surendra comprises of 4 species variously distributed across south-east Asia.

Surendra quercetorum is recorded from India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, south China, and Vietnam but undoubtedly also occurs in Bhutan, Thailand, and peninsular Malaysia.

Habitats

This species can be found in primary rainforest but also occurs in disturbed or secondary forest. It can be found at elevations between about 200-800m.

Lifecycle

The larval foodplant is Acacia (Mimosaceae).

Adult behaviour

Males are usually encountered singly, either perching on foliage, or imbibing moisture from the ground. They always rest with the wings held erect.
