About 120 members of the cosmopolitan subfamily Polyommatinae occur in the neotropical region. Most are confined to the temperate grasslands of the high Andes, although a few species occur at much lower altitudes.
The genus Cupido has representatives in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America. Only one species has a range that extends to South America – comyntas, which occurs from eastern Canada to Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador.
Habitats
This species is found in grassy habitats at altitudes between about 100-1800m.
Lifecycle
To be completed.
Adult behaviour
The butterflies are very active in sunny conditions, but in overcast weather they roost on flowers or grass-heads, usually assuming a head-downwards posture.
