Lifecycle
Unknown.
Adult behaviour
Males are usually found singly amidst aggregations of mud-puddling butterflies. Nevertheless they sometimes occur in much larger numbers, e.g. in August 2012, I encountered an aggregation of at least 500 freshly emerged males swarming around a shallow pool at Rio Shima in Peru.
When feeding the butterflies nearly always hold their wings erect, but in warm but overcast weather conditions they will sometimes bask with wings fully outspread.
