Peria lamis, Rio Madre de Dios, Peru – Adrian Hoskins
Introduction
This pretty little species is the sole member of the genus Peria. Its closest relative is Nica flavilla, the underside of which is similar but marked with small silvery ocelli.
Peria lamis is distributed from Surinam to Bolivia.

Habitats
The butterfly appears to be confined to primary rainforest at altitudes between about 200-800m.

The adults are always encountered singly, usually as males imbibing moisture from well vegetated sandbanks, sunny forest trails or peccary wallows.
